Dr. Stein Tønnesson is a Norwegian peace researcher and historian. In 1998-2001 he led a research project at the Centre for Development and Environment, University of Oslo, on the conflicts in the South China Sea (the Petropolitics project), which held a major international conference in Oslo in June 2000 and produced a number of publications.
